Vincent D’Onofrio Reportedly Returning as Kingpin in Hawkeye Series

Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of the Marvel character Kingpin was one of the many standout performances in Netflix’s Daredevil series. While the series was canceled, rumors are heating up that D’Onofrio could reprise his role as the Kingpin in an upcoming Marvel series.

According to a report on the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, D’Onofrio will be reprising his role as Kingpin in the upcoming Hawkeye series. While that alone might not be much, D’Onofrio himself recently liked a tweet that explicitly mentioned that D’Onofrio would be appearing in the upcoming series. Making things even more interesting is that D’Onofrio has since unlike the tweet.

While the subreddit does a great job of vetting sources and news as it comes in, it’s still obviously something that needs to be taken with a grain of salt, even with D’Onofrio liking tweets on social media. With no release information on Hawkeye available just yet, fans will have to keep waiting to see if the iconic character returns to the screen.

Hailing from head writer Jonathan Igla, the series centers on Renner’s hero archer and will introduce his fan-favorite protégé Kate Bishop, set to be played by Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen). Thanks to previously-released set photos, it appears the series will be taking place two years after Renner’s last outing in Avengers: Endgame and is being speculated that it will adapt one of Hawkeye’s prominent storylines from the comics, where Clint loses his hearing.

Alongside Renner and Steinfeld, the cast for the series is set to include Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It), Fra Fee (Animals), Black Widow‘s Florence Pugh, Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul), Zahn McClarnon (Doctor Sleep) and newcomer Alaqua Cox.

Hawkeye is being helmed by Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, who are best known for their work on Troop Zero, and Rhys Thomas (Staten Island Summer). The show is expected to debut in fall 2021 on Disney+.
