Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to star in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter film based on the Marvel comics character. Unlike other Marvel projects, however, the upcoming film was shot entirely on location, something that Taylor-Johnson says will only help the film.

“Kraven being shot entirely on location is going to make all the difference,” said Taylor-Johnson in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s going to add something really beautiful to our personal story. It also sets Kraven apart from that Marvel stage look. It’s important for this character to be in the real world. It’s important for the authenticity of the story. When you’re running on streets barefoot, you take in those elements and play within that.”
While not too much is still known about the upcoming film, production on the project has concluded, with Taylor-Johnson stating earlier in June that he had finished filming. Footage of the film has yet to make its way online, with the only footage shown so far being a small piece of footage that Sony debuted at CinemaCon in April 2022.
Joining Taylor-Johnson is Fred Hechinger (Fear Street Trilogy, The White Lotus) as Chameleon, Kraven’s half-brother; Oscar nominee Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Calypso, the occasion partner and lover of Kraven; and Russell Crowe in an undisclosed role.

Kraven the Hunter will be directed by Oscar nominee J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) from a screenplay co-written by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer films), Matt Holloway, and Art Marcum. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are attached to produce the project.
The film is scheduled to be released on January 13, 2023.
