The New Zealand-born actor is set to portray the role of King Kahekili, the King of Maui. This marks Morrison’s first non-Star Wars TV project in two years.
Chief of War will be co-written and executive produced by Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, with Doug Jung set as the showrunner. The epic story follows the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view. This marks Momoa’s latest collaboration with Apple TV+, following the conclusion of the sci-fi epic See.
The series is executive produced by Jung, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg, and Justin Cho, who’s also serving as the director for the first two episodes. It is produced by Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment.
