Kit Harington: Jon Snow Is Not Okay Following Game of Thrones Ending

While not too much is known about the rumored sequel series to Game of Thrones starring Jon Snow, actor Kit Harington did speak up about what he believes his character would be up to following the events of the series.

During a recent panel at the official Game of Thrones Convention in Los Angeles this weekend, Harington — who starred as Jon Snow throughout all eight seasons of the series — was asked about what might be happening to Snow following the end of the show. According to Harington, after killing Daenerys and heading back to the Wall, he believes Snow got off a bit easy and is kind living a worse fate than he could have imagined.

“I think if you asked him, he would’ve felt he got off lightly,” Harington said (via Entertainment Weekly). “At the end of the show, when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse. He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte [played by Rose Leslie] dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly [Brenock O’Connor], and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that…that’s interesting.”

Harington went on to say that he knows fans wanted some sign that he might be okay, but he doesn’t believe Snow would be.

“So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are OK. He’s not OK.”

Outside of the brief look into Snow’s mind at the end of the show, Harington didn’t offer up much about the planned spin-off series starring his character. However, author George R.R. Martin did share some insight into the show earlier this year, revealing that it was actually Harington who pitched it.

“Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us. I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet … but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific,” said Martin.
