It’s only a matter of days before the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD cast returns for the third season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series. Today, though, Marvel is already looking ahead to the new season’s second episode. In the gallery viewer below, you can check out 18 stills from Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 3×02, which features the return of Peter Macnicol’s Asgardian Professor Elliot Randolph (who fans will remember from the first season episode, 1×08 “The Well”).
Titled “Purpose in the Machine,” Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 3×02 is officially described as follows:
Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life
The Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast includes Clark Gregg as Director Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Agent Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter, Adrianne Palicki as Agent Bobbi Morse, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie and Luke Mitchell as Lincoln Campbell. This season they’re joined by guest stars Constance Zimmer as Rosalind Price and Matthew Willig as the Inhuman villain, Lash.
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 3×02 airs Tuesday, October 6 at 9:00pm ET/PT on ABC. The show returns on week earlier, however, with the season three premiere, “Laws of Nature”:
When Coulson and the team discover a new Inhuman, S.H.I.E.L.D. comes face to face with another organization searching for powered people. And still reeling from Simmons’ dramatic disappearance, Fitz goes to extreme lengths to try to learn how to get her back.
