Disney’s Enchanted sequel will be titled Disenchanted
It has been over five years since we reported any significant movement on Walt Disney Pictures’ proposed Enchanted sequel, but now Collider brings word that interest in renewing the (potential) franchise has picked up at the Mouse House and what was formerly referred to as Enchanted 2 has a new working title: Disenchanted.
Right from the title, we can imagine that the “ever after” part of “happily ever after” isn’t quite working out for fairy tale princess Giselle (Amy Adams) and her earthly beau Robert (Patrick Dempsey), although no plot details have been revealed. We do know that Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, Hot Pursuit) is still attached to direct Disenchanted, although the script initially penned by Jessie Nelson (Fred Claus) is getting an overhaul before Disney gives it the greenlight. Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld are expected to again produce.
The original animated/live-action hybrid, made for about $85 million, earned an impressive $340.5 million worldwide. $127.8 million of that came from North America and $212.7 million from overseas. Kevin Lima directed the movie from a script by Bill Kelly. It starred Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon.
