In anticipation of X-Men: Apocalypse, we’ve compiled a list of all the major players confirmed to be a part of the film. Sorry, folks that shot of Wolverine’s claws may be misleading. In any case, here’s who will be returning to the film (most of the First Class cast), what characters we’re getting introduced to, and who will be soft re-booting new versions of characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and Nightcrawler.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: James McAvoy as Professor X/Charles Xavier
Reprising his role from Days of Future Past and First Class, James McAvoy promises to have less hair by the end of Apocalypse from the look of the trailer. McAvoy was most recently seen in Victor Frankenstein earlier this year, and known for films such as Atonement, Wanted, and Gnomeo and Juliet.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Michael Fassbender as Magneto/Erikk Lensherr
Jumping back into the fray, Michael Fassbender returns as Magneto with a serious vendetta that has him on Apocalypse’s side. The actor who last starred in Macbeth and Steve Jobs will be following up Apocalyse with Assasins Creed and Alien: Covenant.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique/Raven Darkhölme
Mystique has departed from the villain camp and is spotlighted in the films though Lawrence’s performance as a hero in this new X-Men timeline. Jennifer Lawrence was just breaking out when she first played the character in First Class and became known shortly after as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. The sought-after actress gained critical acclaim and won an Oscar for her performance in David O’ Russel’s Silver Linings Playbook. While keeping up with both of her franchises, she went on to star in more dramatic roles. She can next be seen co-starring with Chris Pratt in Passengers.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Nicholas Hoult as Beast/Hank McCoy
Before being cast as Hank McCoy, Hoult was known as a child actor who starred opposite Hugh Grant in About a Boy. He later broke out as an adult in X-Men: First Class and the zombie romantic comedy Warm Bodies. He was most recently seen giving a crazed performance as War Boy in Mad Max: Fury Road.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Lucas Till as Havok/Alex Summers
Lucas Till had his first starring role as Havok in X-Men: First Class. Before then he played small roles in a few things you may have seen like Walk The Line, and The Hannah Montana Movie. After First Class, he appeared in Stoker with Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman. In Apocalypse, he’ll be introducing his character’s brother Scott Summers into the world of the X-Men. Till is currently attached to play MacGuyver in a CBS series.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Evan Peters as Quicksilver/Peter Maximoff
Evan Peters has worked on an array of shows like Phil of the Future and One Tree Hill before co-starring in Kick-Ass, which he spring-boarded from to play Quicksilver in Days of Future Past. The actor balances both big screen and television roles. He’s been a part of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story cast since the show began and has been featured in all of its seasons. In addition to Apocalypse, he can also be seen in this year’s comedy Elvis & Nixon.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert
Rose Bryne reprises her First Class role in Apocalypse after not appearing in Days of Future Past and comes back with no memory of her first interaction with Charles Xavier. We last saw the actress in Spy and Neighbors taking more comedic turns after memorable roles in Bridesmaids and Get Him to the Greek. She is also known for her work in horror like in Blumhouse‘s Insidious Chapter 1 & 2.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Oscar Issac as Apocalypse/En Sabah Nur
The dashing actor most recently won our hearts as the best damn pilot of the Resistance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In X-Men: Apocalypse, he plays the first mutant intent on bringing out the end of humanity. The prolific actor was also recently seen in Ex-Machina and is known for his roles in films such as the Cohen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis as well as Nicholas Winding Refn’s Drive. He also won a Golden Globe for his performance in HBO’s Give Me a Hero for best actor as Yonkers’ Mayor Nick Wasicsko.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Olivia Munn as Psylocke/Elizabeth Braddock
The former pop culture correspondent from G4’s Attack of the Show has transitioned into an acting career quite smoothly. Olivia Munn returns to her geek culture roots as Psylocke in Apocalypse. Munn has been a part of Aaron Sorkin’s ensemble cast of the smash drama The Newsroom and has appeared in films like Magic Mike.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Alexandra Shipp as Storm/Ororo Munroe
Alexandra Shipp is breaking out in to the tentpole scene as Storm in X-Men: Aplocalypse. She was last seen in the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton. She also starred as Aaliyah in Lifetime’s TV movie about the singer who passed away tragically in Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Ben Hardy as Archangel/Warren Worthington III
Ben Hardy, an English actor, will be debuting as Angel in Apocalypse, as one of the Four Horsemen alongside Magneto, Storm and Psylocke. The young actor last appeared in the BBC television series EastEnders.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Tye Sheridan as Cyclops/Scott Summers
Our new Scott Summers joins the X-Men in Apocalypse in a new class of young mutants. Tye Sheridan has appeared in a few films in recent years like Mike Nichols’ Mud and Terrence Malik’s Tree of Life. Before being cast as Summers, he had a role in A Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse and is officially cast as the lead in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Sophie Turner as Jean Grey
Sophie Turner is best known as Sansa Stark on HBO‘s fantasy hit Game of Thrones. The young actress has been in a couple of small features such as Barely Lethal and Another Me. Her role as Jean Grey is her first major film. Turner is attached to play Mary Shelley in Mary Shelley’s Monster, an upcoming film about the writer’s creation of Frankenstein. We’ll finally get a chance to explore of Jean Grey’s transformation into the Dark Phoenix in future movies with Turner after her introduction in Apocalypse.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Lana Condor as Jubilee/Jubilation Lee
This is Lana Condor‘s first major film as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse. She’s part of the new class of young mutants audiences will follow going forward as the popular classic heroine.
X-Men: Apocalypse Cast: Kodi Smitt-McPhee as Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner
Another actor known for his roles as a child performer, Kodi Smitt-McPhee was known for co-starring with Viggo Mortensen in On The Road. He later went on to star in the American adaptation of Let Me In with Chloe Grace Moretz, lent his voice to ParaNorman, and was also feature in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He will be appearing in Apocalypse as Nightcrawler, a young mutant that Mystique rescues and frees.
