Tim Burton and Jane Goldman on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
20th Century Fox releases its new gothic fantasy adventure Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children today, and we had the chance to do an exclusive video interview with the film’s legendary director Tim Burton (Batman, Beetlejuice, Alice in Wonderland) as well as its talented screenwriter Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class). Check out the video in the player below, and keep an eye out for our video interviews with the cast later today!
During our interview, we discussed with Mr. Burton the influence of Disney movies on Miss Peregrine, as well as his book of napkin drawings titled “Things You Think About in a Bar.” We also told him about METV’s B-horror movie host Svengoolie, which seems right up the Ed Wood director’s alley.

Meanwhile, Goldman talked to us about the difference between Tim Burton and Matthew Vaughn, the sci-fi comic book adaptation Nonplayer and the craziness to come in the sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Chris O’Dowd, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, with Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson.
From visionary director Tim Burton, and based upon the best-selling novel, comes an unforgettable motion picture experience. When Jake discovers clues to a mystery that spans alternate realities and times, he uncovers a secret refuge known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As he learns about the residents and their unusual abilities, Jake realizes that safety is an illusion, and danger lurks in the form of powerful, hidden enemies. Jake must figure out who is real, who can be trusted, and who he really is.
Ransom Riggs’ novel was published in 2011, followed in 2014 by a second book (in a planned trilogy), “Hollow City.” With a screenplay by Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service), Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children under the Chernin Entertainment banner.
