Curb Your Enthusiasm stars Seinfeld co-creator Larry David as himself in an unsparing, but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life. Shot in a vérité style and featuring celebrities playing themselves, the episodes are improvised by the actors from an outline created by David. The series also stars Cheryl Hines as Larry’s ex-wife Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as David’s manager Jeff, Susie Essman as Jeff’s wife Susie and JB Smoove as Leon.
Confirmed guest stars for the new season include Elizabeth Banks, Ed Begley, Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Bryan Cranston, Lauren Graham, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad and Elizabeth Perkins.
When asked why he decided to come back, David previously said, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.'”
With 80 episodes to date, the show is HBO’s longest-running scripted comedy or drama series and has racked up 39 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning just two over the course of its duration. David also starred in and co-wrote the 2013 HBO Films presentation “Clear History.”
Curb Your Enthusiasm returns Sunday, October 1 at 10:00pm ET/PT.
