James Franco’s horror heist movie The Vault is now in theaters
Round these parts, we love James Franco. He’s an actor, director, producer, rock star and all-around multi-hyphenate pop culture gadfly always seems to have a million projects on the go (we’re particularly excited about The Disaster Artist and HBO’s The Deuce) and he always takes chances. I mean an Oscar winner turning around and producing and starring in a Lesbian vampire movie for the Lifetime network? He’s our kind of guy! One of the latest oddball passion projects on his elephantine resume looks particularly irresistible, a hybrid heist/horror-thriller and splatter show directed by filmmaker Dan Bush (The Signal). We liked The Signal lots. We like Franco. So we’ll probably really like this.
The movie is called The Vault and it hits theaters and VOD on today from FilmRise, who keep pumping out interesting stuff. It co-stars Taryn Manning (Orange Is The New Black, 8 Mile), Francesca Eastwood (daughter of Clint and co-star of FX’s Fargo) and Scott Haze (Midnight Special).
The Vault synopsis: Two estranged sisters are forced to rob a bank in order to save their brother. The heist begins smoothly, but mayhem ensues when the defiant bank manager sends them to a basement-level vault—home to something truly evil.
