The Goldbergs’ Wendi McLendon-Covey in talks to co-star in What Men Want
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that comedian Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs, Reno 911!) is in talks for the upcoming comedy What Men Want.
What Men Want will be a flipped version of the Nancy Meyers-directed film from 200 in which a misogynistic advertising executive is given the power to read women’s minds and learn what they’re really thinking following an accident. In the upcoming remake, Taraji P. Henson will star as a female sports agent who has been isolated by her male colleagues and after gaining the power to hear men’s thoughts uses them to race to sign the next NBA superstar. McLendon-Covey will star as Henson’s best friend in the film. The cast for the film also includes Tracy Morgan (The Last O.G.) and Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton).
Nancy Meyers’ original film also starred Marisa Tomei, Alan Alda, Logan Lerman, Bette Midler, and Sarah Paulson. The film quickly became a worldwide sensation, and brought in over $374 million at the global box office when it was released (which is over $535 million if adjusted for inflation). What Women Want remains the highest grossing film of Meyers career.
What Men Want is set to be directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray) and will debut in theaters on January 11, 2019.
