Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 6 Recap
Hank Heywood kicks off Legends of Tomorrow season 4 episode 6 by barging into Ava’s office while Sarah is trying to surprise and seduce Ava on her birthday. He complains about how much money it takes to keep the Legends operating on behalf of the Time Bureau. With the team’s funding threatened, Nate suggests that Hank board the Waverider and join the team on a nice, simple, easy mission. Hank agrees, surprising the team with his immediate inspection.
Don’t Fraternize with the Prisoners
While the Legends are dealing with a new threat in Paris in 1927, Mona is learning the ropes as the creature feeder at the Time Bureau. She understands what will make the prisoners feel more at home and suggests they have appropriate decorations in their cells, but Ava tells Mona that the prisoners are not their friends. Ava points to Nora as the most dangerous and despicable creature in their possession.
Mona is not to be deterred. When Ray tries to slip in to see Nora and Ava shuts him down, Mona offers to deliver a love letter from Ray to Nora. Nora doesn’t want to read the letter, which trips an alarm. Ava rushes to the cell and starts to read the letter when Nora inadvertently lashes out with her magic, trapping the three of them in the room together.
Mona senses that the ladies need some bonding time and brings out the birthday cake and wine. After hearing Ava and Nora’s stories, Mona declares the two of them the coolest women she has ever met. Ava offers to give the letter back to Nora, but Nora doesn’t see the point in reading it when she’s locked away for life. Ava suggests that Nora’s present state doesn’t have to be her future.
Ray shrunk himself down and stuffed himself into the envelope. Ray is able to unlock the prison doors from the inside. The next morning, Ava agrees with Mona that while they might be jailers, she sees that there is room for compassion.
Lutes and Lyres
During Hank’s tour of the Waverider, Nate meets Charlie, mistaking her for Amaya. Nate disagrees with the Legends keeping a magical fugitive on the team, but plays along while Hank is present. In 1927 Paris, Hank becomes enamored with Ernest Hemingway. Nate learns from Salvador Dali that the magical anomaly is a Minotaur, which Hank, Hemingway, and Mick rush into the catacombs to hunt.
Overwhelmed and injured, the team retreats to the Waverider, where Nate and Constantine concoct a plan to lure the Minotaur to them and put it to sleep by playing it a song, as in the myths and legends. Charlie is on board with this idea, feeling a kinship with a misunderstood creature, and is glad that no one–including the Minotaur–will get hurt. Hank objects, saying that they need to kill the beast, but Sarah sides with Nate, telling Hank that this is what they do and if he doesn’t like it then he can fire them all.
The Minotaur tracks Hemingway to a cafe, where Constantine gets its attention and Nate begins to put the beast to sleep. Hemingway fires his gun, waking the beast. Hank watches as Nate and the Minotaur fight, but the beast takes the advantage. Saving his son, Hank plays and sings the creature to sleep. Seeing how the team operates, Hank agrees to continue the Legends’ funding.
Sarah asks Nate to stick around, but he tells the team that being a full-time Legend is in his past. At a post-mission pizza party, Nate tells the team that he found himself when he was a part of them, and assures Charlie that she’ll find her place among them as well.
