Horror-Western The Pale Door Lands Devin Druid In Starring Role
Devin Druid, best known for his role on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, has landed the starring role in the horror/western The Pale Door. Deadline reports that Druid will lead the ensemble cast, which includes Zachary Knighton (The Hitcher), Melora Walters (Magnolia), Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar!), Noah Segan (Looper) and Tina Parker (Better Call Saul).
The Pale Door follows a gang of cowboys and a mysterious woman who find shelter in what appears to be a deserted ghost town after a train robbery goes sideways. Before long, the outlaws stumble upon a brothel in the town’s square. While everyone appears welcoming at first, they soon discover that the town is home to a coven of witches and blood-thirsty wolves.
Aaron B. Koontz directed the film, which he co-wrote with Keith Lansdale and Cameron Burns. Novelist Joe R. Lansdale will serve as the series’ executive producer, as well as creative and script consultant. The film is currently shooting in Oklahoma.

“I love the idea of mixing these two disparate worlds of horror and western, and to do so with the help of Joe and Keith Lansdale, feels like the perfect devil’s playground,” said Koontz. “It’s 3:10 To Yuma meets The Descent, but doused, and then set on fire with psychological horror. Once this gets going, it’s relentless.”
Druid was a breakout star in the controversial hit series 13 Reasons Why, and is slated to return for the show’s third season. He’ll also be starring alongside Tom Hanks in upcoming historical-drama Greyhound.
