Starz crime drama Hightown begins production
Starz has announced production on Hightown, it’s latest crime drama series set amid the drug trade on Cape Cod. When a body washes ashore, it’s discovered by an irreverent National Marine Fisheries Service officer Jackie Quinones, who is determined to help solve the murder even if the cops want her nowhere near the case.
Monica Raymund (Chicago Fire) plays Quinones, with James Badge Dale (Hold the Dark, 13 Hours) as Detective Ray Abruzzo, who’s not happy with her involvement. The series also stars Riley Voelkel (Roswell, New Mexico), and Shane Harper (Code Black). Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break), Atkins Estimond (The Resident), and Dohn Norwood (Hell on Wheels) also star.

The series is written and executive produced by Rebecca Cutter (Gotham), with Gary Lennon (Power), Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick), Jonathan Littman (The Amazing Race) and KristieAnne Reed (Lucifer) also serving as executive producers. Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rachel Morrison (Black Panther) is set to direct the first two episodes.
“Hightown is a crime drama about fiercely flawed people using whoever and whatever they can to get through the night. Through these characters, Hightown explores themes of addiction and recovery and the possibility of redemption,” said Cutter. “I cannot wait to see how Rachel Morrison and this brilliant cast bring the story to life.”
There’s no premiere date set for Hightown at this time.
