Mary Elizabeth Winstead calls Birds of Prey ‘Genuinely funny and weird’
It’s been a while since we’ve had any news from Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), which wrapped filming in mid-April. Thankfully, one of the film’s many stars, Mary Elizabeth Winstead decided to drop a few snippets of information during an interview with The New York Times (via CinemaBlend), in which she described the film as “genuinely funny and weird.”
Winstead, who plays Huntress opposite Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, compared her role in Birds of Prey with her role in the upcoming Gemini Man with Will Smith, saying:
“In Gemini Man, I’m a D.I.A. [Defense Intelligence Agency] agent who’s been hired to keep an eye on Will Smith, but in Birds of Prey I play this assassin who’s been trained since childhood. It’s all women and genuinely funny and weird. It feels from the ’90s, in the best way.”
