Jesse Plemons and Dominique Flashback Join Jesus Was My Homeboy
According to Deadline, Jesse Plemons (Fargo, The Post) and Dominique Fishback (The Deuce) have signed on for the Black Panthers pic Jesus Was My Homeboy. The pair will join Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) in the Ryan Coogler-produced film.
Directed by Shaka King (High Maintenance) and co-written by King and Will Berson (Scrubs), the film will follow the rise of Black Panther Fred Hampton leading up to his assassination, all told from the perspective of William O’Neal, the FBI informant who infiltrated the Panthers and gave the information that led to Hampton’s death.

Fishback will play Hampton’s lover Deborah Johnson, while Plemons will portray Roy Mitchell, one of the primary FBI agents acting against Hampton.
Coogler has been breaking new ground in the film industry with the 2015 sports sequel spin-off Creed and last year’s critical and commercial smash Black Panther, which earned seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, becoming the first superhero film to earn the nomination. He is currently working on writing the script to the Marvel superhero hit, as well as attached to direct the drama Wrong Answer based on the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal and producing the long-awaited Space Jam sequel starring LeBron James (Trainwreck).

Plemons got is big break on the TV series Friday Night Lights, and has gone on to feature in critically praised films such as Steven Spielberg’s The Post (as well as Bridge of Spies), the Tom Cruise thriller American Made and the TV series Fargo. He will next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman.
Fishback will next appear opposite Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the Netflix sci-fi film Power. She recently starred in Fox 2000’s The Hate U Give as well as the indie drama Night Comes On.
