Bill Murray joins Peter Farrelly Quibi comedy series The Now

Variety has brought word that Peter Farrelly (Green Book) and Bill Murray (Zombieland: Double Tap) are set to make a reunion for the third time on the writer/director’s upcoming Quibi series The Now, which is already set to star an ensemble cast led by Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist).

Written by Oscar winner Peter Farrelly (Green Book), The Now will follow the story of a suicidal man named Ed Poole, who achieves clarity when a secret from his past has seemingly destroyed his future. He soon realizes that the only thing that will make his life worth living is to forget the past, screw the future and live in the present.

Franco is leading an ensemble cast that will include O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Daryl Hannah (Sense8), Jimmy Tatro (American Vandal), Alyssa Milano (Insatiable), Rob Yang (Succession) and Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge).

Murray, who has reportedly already shot his part for the series, previously worked with the Farrelly brothers on the 1996 cult classic Kingpin, in which he starred alongside future Zombieland co-star Woody Harrelson, the 2001 family action comedy Osmosis Jones, and a cameo in Dumb & Dumber To.

The series is a production by Anonymous Content which will be co-written by Steve Leff and Pete Jones. The Farrelly brothers, who is known for directing comedy films such as Dumb and Dumber, Hall Pass and The Three Stooges, will also be serving as the series’ directors. Anonymous Content founder Steve Golin and Jeff Okin are set as executive producers.

Quibi, which is short for “Quick Bites” is scheduled to have its launch on April 6, 2020, with already more than a billion dollars raised from its investors. It has a number of projects currently in development. Guillermo del Toro, Sam Raimi, Catherine Hardwick, Steven Spielberg, Paul Feig, Anna Kendrick, Laurence Fishburne, and Don Cheadle are eight of the many producers and talents who are working hard on the production of the said projects

The streaming service, founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, is set to feature series that run two to four hours in length and are broken down into parts that are no longer than 10 minutes in length.
