Miracle Workers Renewed for a Third Season at TBS

TBS has officially renewed their anthology comedy series Miracle Workers for a third season which will now take place in the American Old West. In addition, Dan Mirk and Robert Padnick have also been tapped as the new showrunners and executive producers for the next season, replacing series creator Simon Rich. This renewal comes after nearly seven months since the Daniel Radcliffe-led series concluded its 10-episode second season back in March.

“Miracle Workers is a perfect example of the fun, escapist humor that we take pride in delivering to our viewers,” Heads of scripted original programming for TBS, TNT, and truTV, Sam Linsky and Adrienne O’Riain said in a statement (via Deadline). “We can’t wait to see how this incredibly dynamic cast and talented group of storytellers hilariously rewrite 19th century history.”

Set in the year 1844, Miracle Workers Season 3 will follow an idealistic small-town preacher (Radcliffe) who teams up with a wanted outlaw (Buscemi) and a liberated prairie wife (Viswanathan) to lead a wagon train west on the Oregon Trail across an American landscape which, much like today, is fraught with both promise and peril.

Last season was set in the medieval era where it followed a group of villagers as they try to stay positive in an age of extreme economic inequality, poor healthcare, and widespread ignorance. Worse yet, their king is a bumbling ruler who treats his fowl and ducks better than his own subjects.

In addition to Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi, who portrayed a low-level angel and God in the first season, Dark Ages will also see the return of regulars Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers), Karan Soni (Deadpool 2), Jon Bass (Big Time in Hollywood, FL) and Lolly Adefope (Shrill) in new roles.

Miracle Workers first debuted on TBS in February 2019 and was based on Simon Rich’s novel What in God’s Name. In addition to scoring positive reviews, the cable network reports the series ranked as 2019’s No. 1 new cable comedy, reaching over 26 million viewers across linear, VOD, and digital platforms.

The series is executive produced by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video alongside Andrew Singer, Katy Jenson, Radcliffe, and Buscemi.
