According to Deadline, Academy Award winner Kathy Bates and social media influencer Liza Koshy have been cast in Netflix’s forthcoming untitled romantic comedy film, which will be led by Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (Bewitched). Further details about their characters are still being kept under wraps, but they will also be joining previously announced cast members Zac Efron (Neighbors) and Joey King (The Kissing Booth).
Bates and Koshy are no strangers to the genre, with the Titanic alum previously starring alongside Adam Sandler in the classic comedy film The Waterboy, while Koshy appeared in Netflix’s 2020 dance comedy Work It.
The untitled romantic comedy will be directed by Oscar nominee Richard LaGravenese, who is best known for his work on The Fisher King, Freedom Writers, P.S. I Love You, Water for Elephants, Unbroken, and The Comedian. The screenplay is also co-written by LaGravenese and Carrie Solomon.
“The film will revolve around a surprising romance [that] kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity,” reads the synopsis.
