International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival announces key 2017 feature lineup

Arizona’s International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival is celebrating their 13th anniversary this year and recently announced their key films in their 2017 lineup!

The opening night film will be Lake Bodom, a tension-filled homage to slasher genre films, where a group of teenagers try to reconstruct, minute by minute, an infamous and unsolved murder that took place at Lake Bodom in the 1960’s. But as night falls, it turns out not all of them are there to play.

Additional feature films include:

The Transfiguration – an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival, The Transfiguration tells the tale of Milo (Eric Ruffin) is troubled teen living in New York City with his older brother Lewis (Aaron Clifton). Milo has a fascination with the lore of the vampire, one that begins to invade his everyday life.

Dave Made a Maze a non-stop mix of fantasy and sci-fi fun, Dave (Nick Thune), an artist who has yet to complete anything significant in his career, builds a cardboard fort in his living room. It’s a creation that ends up trapping him, his girlfriend Annie (Meera Ronita Kumbhani), and a group of oddball explorers inside a fantastical world filled with booby traps, critters, and a bloodthirsty Minotaur

A Dark Song (pictured above) – First-time director Liam Gavin crafts a strong debut with an occult film that is as eerie as it is unique. Sophia (Catherine Walker) is a grieving mother, overwhelmed with sadness due to the untimely death of her young son. In an attempt to find some kind of closure, Sophia desperately reaches out to an occultist named Solomon who has experience with an ancient invocation ritual that brings about dark and deadly forces.

Sequence Break a surreal sci-fi romance film, a reclusive video arcade technician encounters strange metaphysical forces that result in bizarre bio mechanical mutations and a shocking self realization. Director Graham Skipper will be present for a Q&A with the audience.

The 13th Annual International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival is part of the 17th Annual Phoenix Film Festival, which occurs this year from Thursday, April 6th to Thursday, April 13th. Continually breaking attendance records since its inception, last year’s festival saw over 25,000 attendees and there are hopes to pull in even more film enthusiasts this year.  The week-long Festival will be held once again at Harkins Scottsdale 101 Theatre located at 7000 E. Mayo Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85054.
