Kate McKinnon in talks to star in Boyle-Curtis comedy
Variety reports that Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live) is in talks to join the cast of director Danny Boyle (127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire) and writer Richard Curtis’ (Love Actually) untitled comedy for Universal and Working Title.
If negotiations end with a deal, McKinnon would join the recently announced Lily James (Darkest Hour, Baby Driver) and Himesh Patel (Damned), who are set to star in the film. While plot details are being kept under wraps, the comedy is said to be music-themed and will take place in the 1960s or 1970s.
Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce for Working Title along with Matt Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. Executive producing are Nick Angel and Lee Brazier. Erik Baiers will oversee the film for Universal.
McKinnon, who has “had to weigh a wave of offers” ever since her breakout in Sony’s Ghostbusters remake, has been seeking out projects while SNL is on hiatus. The actress recently shot the comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me opposite Mila Kunis last summer. The movie comes out August 3, 2018.
