Matt Ryan may star in new Constantine TV series from Warner Bros.
Matt Ryan‘s reign in the role of Constantine looks to be continuing. According to We Got This Covered, the actor may star in a new Constantine TV series centered around the character currently being developed by Warner Bros.
The actor previously played the titular DC Comics character on NBC’s live-action series Constantine, but the show was canceled after one season. Ever since the cancellation, Ryan has remained committed to the part of John Constantine, voicing the role in the animated series Constantine, which debuted on the CW Seed digital platform last year, as well as the animated film Justice League Dark.

There’s no word on what platform the new Constantine series will premiere. Given that Ryan has already been portraying the chain-smoking demon hunter in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The CW seems to be a likely choice. However, the DC Universe streaming platform is going to debut a Swamp Thing series this year, and given that’s the comic book where we first met the trenchcoat-clad hero, it’s possible he could appear there. The character could, theoretically, be re-introduced in a backdoor pilot, much like how DC Universe introduced Doom Patrol in an episode of Titans months before its own series premiered.
Until an official announcement is made, we won’t know for sure, but it’s good to know that the fan-favorite character is still in the running.
