Avengers: Endgame crosses $2 billion worldwide, sets sights on Avatar
Avengers: Endgame continues to dismantle box office records, bringing in another $145.8 million domestically for a US total of $619.7 million. Internationally the film added another $282.2 million for an international total of $1.569 billion and a global total of $2.1887 billion. Endgame just edged past Titanic to become the #2 highest grossing movie of all time and reaching this mark in 11 days of release, the fastest any film has reached this threshold. The film joins its predecessor Avengers: Infinity War as the second Marvel Studios film as the only MCU movies to cross the $2 billion mark and now only has 2009’s Avatar in front of it, the James Cameron movie sits at $2.788 billion worldwide.
Sony and Screen Gem’s horror-thriller The Intruder landed in second place for the weekend, bringing in $11 million. Produced on a budget of $8 million, the film is already in the green and will likely pull a decent profit as it serves as counter programming to Avengers. Dennis Quaid, Meagan Good, and Michael Ealy star in the film.
Lionsgate and Point Grey’s romantic comedy Long Shot took in an estimated $10.025 million this weekend. Directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Dan Sterling and Liz Hannah from a story by Dan Sterling, Long Shot stars Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, with Bob Odenkirk, and Alexander Skarsgård.
STXfilms and Alibaba Pictures Uglydolls brought in an estimated $8.51 million this weekend while playing on 3,652 screens. The film’s cast includes Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Janelle Monáe, Pitbull, Bebe Rexha, Charli XCX, Lizzo, Blake Shelton, Wanda Sykes, Emma Roberts, and Gabriel Iglesias.
