Murder Mystery: Sandler-Aniston flick pulls in record views for Netflix
Audiences flocked to their couches this past weekend to watch the latest Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston team up Murder Mystery, their first since the 2011 romantic-comedy Just Go With It, to the tune of 30.87 million accounts — the biggest “opening weekend” ever for a Netflix original film, according to the streaming service.
For comparisons sake, the Will Smith actioner Bright was viewed by 11 million accounts during its first three days of release; and the Sandra Bullock thriller Birdbox played to 45 million global accounts during its first seven days, with 26 million coming from the U.S.

When an NYC cop (Adam Sandler) finally takes his wife (Jennifer Aniston) on a long-promised European trip, a chance meeting on the flight with a mysterious man (Luke Evans) gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on the Super Yacht of elderly billionaire Malcolm Quince. When Quince is murdered, they become the prime suspects in a modern day whodunit.
Murder Mystery co-stars Luke Evans (The Alienist, Beauty and the Beast) and features a global ensemble cast including Gemma Arterton (Their Finest, The Girl With All the Gifts), Luis Gerardo Mendez (Club de Cuervos, Time Share), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2), David Walliams (Little Britain, Dinner for Schmucks), Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick, Four Lions), John Kani (Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther), Olafur Darri Ólaffson (The Meg, True Detective), with César Award winner Dany Boon (R.A.I.D. Special Unit, Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis), and Academy Award nominee Terence Stamp (Miss Peregrine’s, The Limey).

Murder Mystery is directed by Kyle Newacheck (Game Over, Man!, Workaholics) and written by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spiderman, White House Down, Zodiac). The movie comes from Happy Madison, Engame Entertainment, Vinson Films, Denver and Delilah Productions, and producers Adam Sandler, Allen Covert, Tripp Vinson, James D. Stern, Jamie Vanderbilt, and Charlize Theron.
The movie is currently streaming on Netflix.
