The Good Liar trailer: First look at new drama starring Mirren & McKellen
Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have released the official trailer for their upcoming thriller film The Good Liar, featuring our first look at Oscar winner Helen Mirren (The Queen) and Oscar nominee Ian McKellen‘s (Lord of the Rings film franchise) characters. Set to debut on November 15, you can check out the video in the player below.

Based on the novel by Nicholas Searle, The Good Liar follows a career con artist Roy Courtnay (McKellen), who can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.
The film will also star Russell Tovey (Quantico) as Steven, Jim Carter (Downton Abbey) as Vincent, Mark Lewis Jones as Bryn and Laurie Davidson.

It is directed by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Bill Condon from a screenplay written by Jeffrey Hatcher (Mr. Holmes). Condon produces alongside producer Greg Yolen. Serving as executive producers are Jack Morrissey, Nick O’Hagan, Aaron L. Gilbert, Richard Brener, Andrea Johnston and Jason Cloth. A New Line Cinema presentation, in association with BRON Creative, The Good Liar will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Entertainment Company.
This project will be fourth collaboration between McKellen and Condon, who have worked on Gods and Monsters, Mr. Holmes and Beauty and the Beast.
