Following an intense bidding war involving 14 bidders, HBO has successfully won the rights to the limited series adaptation of Big Swiss, based on Jen Beagin’s forthcoming sex therapy novel of the same name. According to Deadline, Emmy winner Jodie Comer has officially signed on for the leading role in the project, which hails from Oscar winner Adam McKay and A24.

Big Swiss will be executive produced by Comer, who will portray the role of Flavia. Beagin and McKay are also set as executive producers, with A24 and McKay’s Hyperobject Industries serving as producers. The project is currently in the development phase.
“After starting a new life anonymously transcribing sex therapy sessions in New York, a woman becomes fixated with one of the patients, leading to an obsessive, explosive relationship between the two,” says the synopsis. The project is the latest addition to McKay’s growing list of upcoming HBO projects which includes: a climate anthology series The Uninhabitable Earth; the Bong Joon-Ho‘s Parasite limited series; and the comedy Nice White Parents.
