While Morbius is still less than a week away from releasing in theaters, director Daniel Espinosa recently went through a litany of questions on how the film connects to other Marvel properties, including discussing the post-credits scenes of the film.

Speaking to CinemaBlend in a recent Q&A session for Twitter, Espinosa touched on a couple of topics that fans may have been confused about when it comes to Morbius. Namely, the film will take place in the same universe as Venom.
“Morbius lives in the same universe as Venom,” said Espinosa. “This is the universe we saw Venom exit at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and return to at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
With Morbius and Venom existing in the same universe, it was then asked if a Spider-Man would exist in their universe, to which Espinosa said “Of course.” However, when asked about which Spider-Man would be the one existing in Venom‘s universe, Espinosa was a bit more coy, simply saying that it was his “understanding that audiences will discover the answer soon.”
Espinosa also spoke about the inclusion of Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture, who originally appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but has appeared in various trailers for Morbius. According to Espinosa, Keaton is playing the same Toomes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, and that the events of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home — which sees characters crossing through various universes — allows for these type of events.
“At the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, and in No Way Home itself, it is clearly established that it is possible for characters to transfer from one Multiverse to another,” said Espinosa. “The events of No Way Home had the effect of transferring Venom and Vulture (and maybe others) back and forth between the MCU and the Venom Universe.”
Espinosa also spoke about how, to those with a keen eye, it’s noticeable that Keaton’s Vulture suit isn’t the exact same as it was in Spider-Man: Homecoming. No explanation was given as to what happened to the suit, but Espinosa did call Toomes “a resourceful guy.”

Finally, CinemaBlend asked if Vulture appearing in Morbius could mean that preparations are being made for a Sinister Six movie. While Espinosa didn’t confirm or deny the rumor, he did say that Vulture is “recruiting teammates and he has enticed one already, so it sure looks like a start.”
