While Kamala Khan made her Marvel Cinematic Universe only one week ago, it seems that the superpowered girl from Jersey City has already caught the attention of many people. Not only do her schoolmates seem very interested in discovering who that mysterious Ms. Marvel is, but a federal executive department is also looking into her whereabouts. The first episode of Ms. Marvel showed that the Department of Damage Control is looking for the titular heroine’s real identity after the AvengerCon incident, where Khan unleashed her mighty powers for the first time.
But why is the DODC so interested in Ms. Marvel?
Who Are P. Cleary and Sadie Deever in the Department of Damage Control?
The “Generation Why” mid-credits scene showed that DODC agents P. Cleary (Arian Moayed) and Sadie Deever (Alysia Reiner) were watching a video of the AvengerCon incident. The pair looked very concerned about the unicity of Khan’s powers and decided to bring her in. The DODC agents kept looking for clues in the recently-released Episode 2, where they interrogated Zoe Zimmer (Laurel Marsden) about the incident and identified the “enhanced individual” as South Asian. While they seem almost obsessed with Ms. Marvel, the reason why is still unclear.

Initially a subsidiary of S.H.I.E.L.D., the DODC was first mentioned in 2008’s Iron Man. Tony Stark agreed with the federal government for a joint venture that would contain and repair all damage caused by many battles between superheroes and villains, even the minor ones, as the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series hinted on a pair of occasions. Still, the first DODC agent appeared for the first time only in Spider-Man: Homecoming, when they operated in the incident between the Criminal Avengers and Spider-Man. The DODC also interrogated Peter Parker after the news of his real identity broke out.
