Now that Obi-Wan Kenobi is over, Ms. Marvel is Disney+’s flagship series. The latest installment in the Marvel Studios’ show unveiled new details on Kamran, the mysterious boy who made his debut in the second episode. Additionally, it introduced a powerful group that needs Kamala Khan’s help and doesn’t seem willing to wait for the titular character to waste any more time.
Where Do the Djinn Come From?
In Ms. Marvel, the Djinn come from a dimension known as the Noor Dimension. While talking to Kamran’s mother, Najma (Nimra Bucha), an amazed Kamala Khan (Imani Vellani) discovered that the people who saved her from the Department of Damage Control are the Djinn. Najma explained to the protagonist that she and her friends had been exiled to Earth from an alternate dimension. Najma didn’t go into detail about why the Djinn had to leave their home, but she revealed that Khan’s great-grandmother, Aisha (Mehwish Hayat), is one of them. The Djinn want to return home and need Khan’s golden bungle for interdimensional travel. Najma urged Khan to help them, but the girl looked hesitant. Ultimately, the Djinn chose to force Khan to activate her powers, but the girl fought them back until the DODC intervened to arrest the group.

As often happens, the live-action shows took a different path to introduce some characters’ backstory. In Marvel Comics, the Noor Dimension doesn’t exist. However, the Djinn is one of the races that inhabit the universe created by Stan Lee. Apparently, they were generated by Lilith, a.k.a. the Mother of Demons, one of the first Earth inhabitants. The Djinn are mighty creatures who possess considerable magical powers and are immortals. However, they still have some weaknesses. In Asgard, all the Djinn perished since they couldn’t stand low temperatures. Often, the Djinn are forced to serve under a master’s command.
