Everything Everywhere All at Once was a massive success and earned Michelle Yeoh an Oscar in the process. However, the legendary actress doesn’t think an Everything Everywhere All at Once 2 is on the horizon.
Will there be an Everything Everywhere All at Once 2?
Speaking during the Kering Women in Motion talks during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival (via Variety), Yeoh was asked about Everything Everywhere All at Once 2 happening and said that no sequel is coming.
As for why a sequel to the hit film won’t happen, Yeoh said that the team behind the film would just be repeating the first film if they did another.
“There’s no sequel,” Yeoh confirmed during the talk. “We would just be doing the same thing.”
While some fans may be disappointed, the film did end on a rather definitive note, and with the film being the massive success it was, it seems those involved are happy for it to end on a high note.
Everything Everywhere All at Once was not only a huge hit for Yeoh, but for A24 Films and the cast of the film at large. The film grossed over $140 million at the box office (a record high for A24) and took home over 260 awards, with many estimating it to be the most-awarded film of all time.
The film won seven of its 11 nominated awards at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Leee Curtis), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
