Early reports from Superman: Legacy suggest Rachel Brosnahan is in talks for Lois Lane. According to the actress, she would love to play the role if offered it.
What’s the latest on Superman: Legacy?
During a recent appearance on The View, Brosnahan was asked about the recent rumors and laughed them off. Despite mentioning that you can’t always believe what you see online, Brosnahan did say she’d love to play the iconic character.
“I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt, is my first piece of advice,” she said. “But it would be extraordinary. I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist who is far from a damsel in distress. And I would jump at the chance if it arose.”
The comments came a few hours after Deadline reported on the potential pick. Alongside Brosnahan, Deadline notes that Emma Mackey, Phoebe Dynevor, and Samara Weaving are a handful of actresses who have tested for Lois Lane.
In a recent tweet, Gunn spoke on the rumors of the Superman: Legacy casting; he also noted that he would never comment on who is or isn’t involved. Gunn did say that for now, however, just one person has been officially cast in the film.
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Production is expected to begin in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled 2025 theatrical release.
