Bill Skarsgård-Led The Crow Reboot Adds FKA Twigs

According to The Hollywood Reporter, British singer FKA Twigs (Honey Boy) has officially been tapped to star opposite Bill Skarsgård in the forthcoming The Crow reboot, which hails from director Rupert Sanders. Twigs is set to portray the love interest of Skarsgård’s Eric Draven.

In the original 1994 film, although the character’s death was vital in the lead’s transformation, the role wasn’t a significant part. The outlet sources’ note that Twigs’ version has now been reimagined and expanded as a co-lead for the remake.

The Crow reboot is a supernatural revenge film, based on James O’Barr’s 1989 dark fantasy comic book series of the same name. The long-in-development remake will be directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) from a screenplay written by Oscar nominee Zach Baylin (King Richard).

It tells the story of a man who is brought back to life by crows to avenge his murder and the death of his fiancée. The series was famously adapted into a film in 1994 starring Brandon Lee, which became notorious following his tragic death on the set of the film.

The reimagined reboot is produced by Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, John Jencks and Edward R. Pressman, with Dan Farah executive producing. Production is expected to begin in June and will take place in Prague and Munich.

Since the 1994 film, various reboot attempts have been made, including one that saw Jason Momoa set to star in a remake with Corin Hardy tapped to direct the film. However, after a few pre-production setbacks, Hardy and Momoa eventually left the project in 2018 over differences behind the project. Before that, Luke Evans and Jack Huston were also previously attached for the role at some point in 2014.
