Ahead of The Crown‘s upcoming fifth season premiere, Netflix and Left Bank Pictures are currently exploring the possibility of developing a prequel series to the acclaimed historical drama.
The Crown prequel (via Daily Mail UK) will reportedly cover the events from the late Victorian era to Edward VIII’s abdication and relationship with Wallis Simpson, and up to the pre-World War II era including the rise of socialism and fascism. Meanwhile, Deadline notes that Netflix and Left Bank Pictures’ discussions about the project are still in the early stages and have not yet been approved for development.
