As production continues on HBO’s House of the Dragon, the first behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series have surfaced online (via Daily Mail UK), providing us our first look at The Crown alum Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy’s characters as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The photos, which you can check out below, feature the pair having a conversation on a beach.
In the novel, Rhaenyra is the first-born child of the King and is married to Daemon, who is also her paternal uncle. Most Game of Thrones fans know that the Targaryens weren’t only famous for their dragons, but they were also infamous for their normalization of incest or inbreeding in order for the royal family to keep their bloodline pure.
