Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was one of the last technical marvels of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Helmed by Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment, the game beautifully brings to life the period between the Star Wars prequels and the original trilogy. Now, players old and new can enjoy a fully upgraded take on the journey of Cal Kestis thanks to an upcoming next-gen upgrade on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Announced in the lead up to the Star Wars Day festivities on May 4, Fallen Order‘s native next-gen update will be free for all existing owners. There are scant few details on what the update will entail as of now, but there are promises of “a number of technical improvements” coming for players on newer consoles. The game will be available for 70% off its normal price for anyone who hasn’t picked up the action-adventure as of yet.

Star Wars Day will also bring several in-game events for other Star Wars video games, including a new astromech droid pet for Star Wars: The Old Republic and the cast of Star Wars: The Bad Batch arriving in mobile title Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. The numerous Star Wars games without live updates will be offered at a discount price throughout the holiday season.
This will actually be the second Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order update for new consoles, as Respawn Entertainment quietly released a patch for the game that made it detect new systems three months ago. As explained by the experts at Digital Foundry, those who own the game can load it up on new hardware and get improved framerates and a boosted resolution. The upcoming patch will likely improve the game further, but anyone who only checked in at launch and found a buggy experience rife with slowdown should finally be able to experience the game as intended in the coming months.
