Emma Stone is currently starring in Disney’s Cruella, but if it was up to her, another popular and iconic Disney villain would be getting their own movie.

In a recent interview with Variety, Emma Stone said that she would love to see Ursula, the main villain of the Disney film The Little Mermaid, get her own feature film.
“She’s an octopus and the world you would get to live in, like Ursula’s parents and what happened there,” Stone said. “You’ve never really seen a non-human Disney villain be explored in that way.”
Ursula is currently set to be played by Melissa McCarthy in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, but being the main character in her own film is still something that could be interesting. Stone’s co-star in Cruella Emma Thompson agreed, chiming in that perhaps Ursula’s origin could be tied to her being an octopus.
“The parents keep giving her a shirt that only has four arms,” Thompson joked. “They really mess her up with that from a very early age, so she’s constantly trying to fit two arms into each hole. That would really mess you up, wouldn’t it?”

Cruella is directed by I, Tonya filmmaker Craig Gillespie from a screenplay written by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, based on a story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel & Steve Zissis. It is executive produced by original Cruella actress Glenn Close with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff, Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt, and Kristin Burr set as producers. Two-time Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan (Mad Max: Fury Road) creates the dazzling and imaginative costumes, which take on a life of their own.
