Marvel Studios Finally Confirms Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight in New Photo

As production continues on Disney+’s Moon Knight in Hungary, Marvel Studios has finally acknowledged Oscar Isaac’s involvement in the highly-anticipated MCU series with a brand new photo, confirming that the 42-year-old actor is indeed portraying the titular eccentric hero. The photo, which you can check out below, features Isaac in front of a collection of Moon Knight artworks, teasing which version of the character’s costumes in the comics would be serving as an inspiration for his live-action suit.

Despite the studio’s official confirmation of his casting, MCU fans have already realized for a while now that Isaac had signed on for the leading role due to previously released training videos that featured the acclaimed actor showing off the hero’s fighting styles.

The Moon Knight series was first announced more than a year ago by Marvel’s chief creative officer Kevin Feige at the 2019 D23 Expo. This marks the iconic superhero’s live-action debut and is expected to feature in future MCU films. Feige also previously revealed that it is being developed as a six-episode series that will consist of 40-50 minute long episodes, just like with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The Disney+ series will see Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac in the titular role of Marc Spector. Isaac is no stranger to Marvel films as he previously starred in Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse and lend his voice in Sony’s Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Joining him are May Calamawy (Ramy) and Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke as the villain.

Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975 for “Werewolf by Night” #32, Moon Knight is the alter ego of Marc Spector, a Jewish-American rabbi’s son who grew up to become a heavyweight boxer and then a U.S. Marine. Spector is a mercenary with numerous alter egos such as cabbie Jake Lockley and millionaire playboy Steven Grant in order to better fight the criminal underworld.
