Nearly everyone assumed that the upcoming God of War PS5 game was called that after Sony teased that “Ragnarok is coming,” and now we know that is officially the upcoming action game’s title. Sony’s latest Investor Relations document shows that the game is indeed called God of War: Ragnarok.
The more exciting tidbit is that the latest entry in Kratos’ adventure has a fancy new logo. It’s all in blue and uses the same font that the previous teaser used. God of War: Ragnarok will be the ninth game in the God of War series. Exclusive to PlayStation 5, it was previously announced for a 2021 release, although there have not been any official updates to indicate that is still happening or it has been delayed. The God of War PS5 game will once again be developed by the team at Santa Monica Studio led by director Cory Barlog.

2018’s God of War served as a soft reboot of the franchise taking it from Greek mythology to using Norse mythology as an inspiration. While Kratos is still the playable character and is confirmed to be the same person, he now has a son named Atreus. The emotional journey released to critical acclaim and was widely lauded for its plot, which was previously considered a weak point of the action series. It also had varied combat systems compared to previous hack-and-slash entries, which made fights far more methodical in nature.
We’ll have more on God of War: Ragnarok as Sony continues to release information on the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 game.
