Voice actresses Megumi Han, Ruriko Aoki, and Yurika Moriyama will be joining the cast as Shōko Komi’s classmates Nokoko Inaka, Nene Onemine, and Kaede Otori respectively. Nokoko is described as a country girl that looks up to Komi, while the motherly Nene is always attempting to defuse any problems and takes care of Hitohito Tadano. Meanwhile, Kaede is friends with Komi and they get along due to their similar gentle personalities.
Komi Can’t Communicate will premiere on October 6, 2021, and will stream weekly outside of Japan beginning later in the month, on October 21, 2021.
“Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it,” reads the official description of the series from Viz Media. “But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof—she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!”
