The anime adaptation of the comic is set to release later this year on Netflix. There will be 13 episodes in total and follows the story of a final heist put on by a small-time crook. It will officially launch on November 25, 2021.

Millar explained that he came up with the series since he wanted to make something focused on villains rather than superheroes and that he was a fan of Akira and other anime, so he’s thrilled to see an anime made of the series. Voicing the main character of Johnny will be Tsuda Kenjiro.

Acclaimed Japanese studio Bones will head up the project. The company is best known for animating My Hero Academia. Carole & Tuesday director Motonobu Hori will direct the show, while Dai Sato will oversee scripts, and Takafumi Mitani is the character designer. Also credited is Stanislas Brunet for concept design.

The series is based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and Leinil Francis Yu.
