Netflix unveils official Shadow and Bone trailer & new photos
With only a few weeks left until the streaming platform’s adaptation of Leigh Bardgo’s bestselling Grishaverse franchise arrives, Netflix has unveiled the first trailer and new photos from Shadow and Bone teasing the fantasy drama to come. The trailer, which offers a first look at the incredible powers Alina Starkov possesses and the many forces out to kill her and the dangers that threaten all of humanity, can be viewed below!

Developed by Oscar nominee Eric Heiserrer (Arrival, Bird Box), the series is set in a war-torn world and centers on orphan and lowly soldier Alina Starkov as she unleashes an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free from the monstrous threat of Shadow Fold, though finds herself torn from everything she knows to train as part of the Grisha, an elite army of magical soldiers. Struggling to get a grasp on her powers while avoiding a crew of charismatic criminals out to get her, Alina learns that allies and enemies might be one in the same and that nothing in the lavish world is what it seems.

The roster for the series is led by Jesse Mei Li as Alina alongside Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Ben Barnes, Sujaya Dasgupta, Danielle Galligan, Daisy Head, Simon Sears, Calahan Skogman, Zoë Wanamaker, Kevin Eldon, Julian Kostov, Luke Pasqualino, Jasmine Blackborow and Gabrielle Broos.

Shadow and Bone is a Netflix production from 21 Laps Entertainment, with Heisserer serving the showrunner, writer and executive producer for the series alongside author Bardugo, 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry, Pouya Shahbazian and Lee Toland Krieger, who also directed the first two episodes of the series. The series will debut on April 23.
