Kevin Smith persona Silent Bob and his good friend Jay have ventured into the world of retro video games with Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl. Already released on PC and Nintendo Switch, the duo’s retro beat ’em up adventure will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 20, and pre-orders are open now on Xbox specifically. Those that pre-order can save 10 percent off its usual $14.99 price.
Mall Brawl on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is an updated version of the original PC release, featuring enhanced visuals, altered difficulty settings, and a new soundtrack. These updates will automatically go to current owners when the new game releases later this month.

One notable thing about the game is that it is 100% compatible with the vintage Nintendo Entertainment System. Developers Spoony Bard Productions and Interabang Entertainment teamed with Limited Run Games to produce a sadly now sold-out NES cartridge for the release, but those with some technical know-how can procure the ROM from the PC version and still play it on NES-compatible systems.
Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl is the first of two games Jay and Silent Bob have been involved with in recent times. This NES throwback serves as a prelude to Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, another beat ’em up with graphics reminiscent of the classic short-lived animated show based on the pair. Developed by Interabang Entertainment, the game was crowdfunded back in 2016 and doesn’t have a set release date as of now.
