According to a report from Variety, the film, which is based on the illustrated book by the late Edward Gorey, is being developed by the newly formed Double Dream production company. Siblings Andy and Barbara Muschietti (It, It: Chapter Two) formed the company, with Andy set to direct and Nanjiani attached as one of the stars of the film.

The Doubtful Guest tells the story of mysterious penguin-like creatures who arrive unannounced at a family’s home and cause nothing but chaos. Gordon and Nanjiani will also serve as executive producers for the film, with Andy and Barbara Muschietti producing the film alongside Dani Bernfeld.

Double Dreams production of The Doubtful Guest places another big film on their plate, as the company is already working on some pretty big properties. Currently, the production company is working on DC’s The Flash (which Andy Muschietti directing and Barbara producing), the Warner Bros. adaptation of the popular Attack on Titan anime, and Universal’s upcoming Electric State.
