Ewan McGregor never thought he would return to the world of Star Wars, but now that he has for Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, he’s ready to return for more if they’ll have him.

“If we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I’d be totally up for that,” Mcgregor told Total Film, before joking about how he was once again asking Disney for an opportunity. “Here I go again, it’s like me knocking at Disney’s door again!”
McGregor also spoke about returning to a role that he’s so well-known for years later, and said that getting to return and help bridge the gap between himself and Alec Guinness (who played the original Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1977’s Star Wars) was great.
“It was nice to come back and to bridge that gap between me and Alec Guinness,” said McGregor. “I got as much, or more, out of playing him this time than I did in the first three movies put together. That’s to do with the writing, and the people we were making the series with, and the technology, and how different everything is.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi will see the return of Ewan McGregor to the Star Wars universe as he reprises his iconic role as the titular Jedi master, whom he famously portrayed in George Lucas’ prequel trilogy. It also features the return of fellow Star War alums Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars.
“The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader,” reads the official synopsis.
Joining the returning Star Wars alums are franchise newcomers Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Sung Kang (F9: The Fast Saga), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (The French Dispatch), Simone Kessell (Of Kings and Prophets), Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems), and Maya Erskine (PEN15).
