Marvel has debuted Oscar and Grammy award-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s Doctor Strange main theme, which you can listen to below! “The Master of the Mystic End Credits” from the Doctor Strange original motion picture soundtrack is heard in its entirety in the end credits of the film. The full original motion picture digital soundtrack will be available at digital retail and streaming services on October 21. A pseudo video for the track will also debut the same day. Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange opens in U.S. theaters November 4, 2016. The physical soundtrack will be available following the film’s release.
Acclaimed composer Michael Giacchino marks his first-ever feature collaboration with Marvel Studios for Doctor Strange. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, the score features an 80-piece orchestra conducted by Tim Simonec.
Director Scott Derrickson said, “Michael Giacchino’s score does so much more than support the visual images, it adds new, additional layers of meaning and emotion to the film. The ‘Doctor Strange’ theme is memorable, moving and yes, magical. I don’t know what the movie would be without it.”
Michael Giacchino said, “I was really excited when I got the call to score ‘Doctor Strange’ since I had been a fan as a kid. Once I saw the film, I was impressed at how well the character had stood the test of time. This rendition of ‘Doctor Strange’ gave me the opportunity to bring to life all of the crazy things I heard in my head while reading those comic books growing up in the ’70s.”
Giacchino’s credits feature some of the most popular and acclaimed film projects in recent history, including Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, as well as Star Trek Beyond, Jurassic World, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. His score for Disney•Pixar’s 2009 feature Up earned him an Oscar, a Golden Globe, the BAFTA, the Broadcast Film Critics’ Choice Award and two Grammy Awards.
From Marvel Studios comes Doctor Strange, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.
Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt and Scott Adkins, with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. Scott Derrickson is directing with Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. Jon Spaihts and Scott Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill wrote the screenplay.
