Reissues

The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey
Arrow Video puts out a gorgeous transfer of Vincent Ward’s 1988 breakout film. Shot in New Zealand and highly inspired by the medieval art of Hieronymus Bosch, this film features stark black and white imagery of Cumbria in the year 1348 as the black plague looms… only to suddenly turn to color as our heroes travel through a tunnel into 1980’s New Zealand. The disc features a vintage 1989 documentary on the making of the film.

Piranha II: The Spawning
James Cameron’s inauspicious directorial debut, arguably the best movie about flying piranhas ever made, comes home to Blu-ray from Scream Factory featuring a spiffy-looking new 2K scan of the camera negative. The disc also features interviews with actor Ricky Paull Goldin and special effects man Brian Wade.

The House of the Dead
Also known as Alien Zone, this obscure 1978 anthology movie put out in a loving package by Vinegar Syndrome features the stories of four different corpses and how they each arrived on the slab.

New on Digital HD

Avengers: Infinity War
The fourth-highest-grossing film ever at the worldwide box office comes home to Digital platforms. The first part of Marvel Studios’ epic culmination involves nearly every major hero in their roster, with Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy being standouts. Josh Brolin truly delivers as the antagonist and central character trying to bring about a universal genocide for the good of the universe. A must-own for all Marvel fans!

Jeff Wadlow to direct Blumhouse & Sony’s Fantasy Island feature

Deadline is reporting that director Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare, Kick-Ass 2, Cry Wolf) is teaming up with Blumhouse and Sony Pictures to reimagine the ABC series Fantasy Island into a movie. Sony owns the rights to the original series which was created by Gene Levitt and executive produced by Aaron Spelling.

Fantasy Island ran on ABC from 1977-1984 and quickly became a fan-favorite. The island drama dealt with dark themes and the supernatural with a little bit of cheesiness as visitors would come to the island to live out their fantasies. Guests could request any fantasy on the unique resort island in the Pacific Ocean, overseen by the mysterious Mr. Roarke (originally played by Ricardo Montalban) and Hervé Villechaize’s Tattoo, but those fantasies rarely turned out as expected as visitors found themselves facing challenges that tested their character.

Wadlow previously collaborated with Blumhouse on the recent horror hit Truth Or Dare that earned $100 million at the worldwide box office from a budget of $5 million. He will be co-writing Fantasy Island with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs with Jason Blum set to produce. Wadlow will also executive produce alongside Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson with Ryan Turek overseeing the project for Blumhouse and Matt Milan overseeing for Sony.

Blumhouse’s recent features include The First Purge, Unfriended: Dark Web, and Upgrade. Upcoming projects include the return of Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode in the Halloween sequel, M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass starring Bruce Willis, James McAvoy, and Samuel L. Jackson in the third installment of a trilogy that includes previous features Unbreakable and Split, and Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman.

Time Traveler’s Wife Series from Steven Moffat Ordered by HBO

Time Traveler's Wife Series from Steven Moffat Ordered by HBO

Time Traveler’s Wife series from Steven Moffat ordered by HBO

HBO has given a series order for The Time Traveler’s Wife, adapted by Emmy winner Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Doctor Who) from the Audrey Niffenegger novel. An intricate and magical love story, the series tells the story of Clare and Henry and a marriage with a problem… time travel.

The beloved story follows Henry DeTamble, an adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. The couple’s passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures them in an impossibly romantic trap.

“I read Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveler’s Wife many years ago, and I fell in love with it. In fact, I wrote a Doctor Who episode called The Girl In The Fireplace as a direct response to it. When, in her next novel, Audrey had a character watching that very episode, I realized she was probably on to me. All these years later, the chance to adapt the novel itself, is a dream come true. The brave new world of long-form television is now ready for this kind of depth and complexity. It’s a story of happy ever after — but not necessarily in that order,” said Moffat.

HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Steven Moffat, Hartswood, and WBTV on The Time Traveler’s Wife. Steven’s passion is evident in every project he’s written and we are certain that his love and respect for this mesmerizing and textured novel will make it a quintessential HBO series.”

The Time Traveler’s Wife was previously adapted for the big screen in 2009. The movie, directed by Robert Schwentke and written by Bruce Joel Rubin, starred Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. In the film, Bana stars as Henry, a Chicago librarian who suffers from a rare genetic disorder that causes him to move involuntarily through time. He ends up marrying Clare (McAdams), but their relationship is complicated thanks to Henry’s inability to remain in the same time and place as his wife.

Moffat will write and executive produce the series for HBO, alongside executive producers Sue Vertue and Brian Minchin with Hartswood Films in Association with Warner Bros. Television producing.

Fantastic Fest 2018 Announces First Wave of Programming

Fantastic Fest 2018 Announces First Wave of Programming

Fantastic Fest 2018 announces its first wave of programming

Entering its 14th year of celebrating offbeat and brilliant cinema, this installment sees Fantastic Fest bring the very best in mind-melting mayhem and madness from all corners of the globe, which also includes a cinematic trip back in time to South Korea, highlighting a period of filmmaking that was mad, bad and dangerous to know!

Fantastic Fest is thrilled to present the World Premiere of the bone-chilling World War II horror-thriller Overlord, produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, with director Julius Avery and stars Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbaek, John Magaro and Mathilde Ollivier in attendance. This exhilarating, nerve-shredding ride tells the story of American paratroopers dropped into occupied France on the eve of D-Day who discover a secret Nazi lab carrying out terrifying and bizarre supernatural experiments.

Fantastic Fest alumni return to the festival in a dual threat that promises to shock, awe and conquer audiences. First up Apostle sees Gareth Evans’ (The Raid) take on the folk horror genre with Dan Stevens as a mysterious man infiltrating a sinister cult headed by Michael Sheen to rescue his sister with eye-gouging results. Then, Timo Tjahjanto pits Joe Taslim against Iko Uwais (The Raid) in The Night Comes For Us, an action thriller where the body count breaks new records in bone-crunching fights, venomous violence, and dynamic destruction!

Fantastic Fest’s mission to bring the best of genre continues to flourish with a worldwide group of films headed to Austin for a celebration unlike any other. Leading the pack is returning comedic genius Quentin Dupieux (Rubber) with his unexpected tale of a police interrogation during a murder investigation over the course of one night in the North American Premiere of Keep an Eye Out. Director Alejandro Fadel’s cerebral Cannes shocker Murder Me, Monster will also have its North American Premiere at the festival. Sensational shot-on-16mm psychotropic horror Luz will be in Austin for its U.S. Premiere, and the thrilling Swedish independent blockbuster The Unthinkable will blast the audience with its European take on a nation-under-siege big-budget spectacle at its World Premiere.

Other Fantastic Fest highlights include a focus on global female genre filmmakers who are blasting through the silver screen with distinctive and brilliant features. From Ukraine, Marysia Nikitiuk explores the clash between old world values and young love in a visually charged fusion of genres in When the Trees Fall. Spain’s Sonia Escolano turns up the tension in her mesmerizing treatise on religion, faith and belief in House of Sweat and Tears. Isabella Eklof brings her Sundance critical hit Holiday to the fest all the way from Denmark. And finally, alumna Amanda Kramer makes an unforgettable mark with her distinctive debut Ladyworld, a post-apocalyptic, daring probe into the darkest reaches of the teenage female mind.

Fantastic Fest turns its eye to South Korea and explores the Korean Quota Quickies, a period in the 1970s which saw filmmaking flourish despite stifling ideological censorship thanks to a quota system which required a strict number of local productions be made for each of the foreign films imported. Although most of these were rushed productions, clever directors used the system to their advantage to sneak strange and daring content past producers, directors, and censors. Fantastic Fest is going to present two very rarely seen films from the period: BANGREUMYEON from director Kim Ki-Young, one of Park Chan-Wook’s directing idols, and Quit Your LIfe from director Park Nou-Sik, who provided the literal roadmap for all Korean revenge movies to come.“To be able to highlight a period of Korean cinema that is largely unknown in North America is a brilliant opportunity to not only re-discover what shaped the modern Korean cinema we all know and love, but also a great way to tap into the sheer electric creative force running through the films as shaped by the strict authoritarian environment they were created in,” says FF Creative Director Evrim Ersoy. The festival will also bring the best of modern Korean cinema to the festival including Lee Chang-dong’s critical Cannes hit Burning.

AGFA (the American Genre Film Archive) triumphantly returns to the festival with a trio of restorations all receiving the World Premiere treatment. ’80s shot-on-video epic Blood Lake is restored from the 1″ master tapes and arrives alongside a double bill of I Was a Teenage Serial Killer and Mary Jane’s Not a Virgin Anymore, celebrating the punk riot grrrl feminist cinema of Sarah Jacobson, both in brand new 2K preservations. Plus the highly-anticipated World Premiere of Maniac, restored lovingly from the once-thought-lost 16mm negatives into 4K; with director William Lusting in attendance!

A bizarre trio of animation from across the world arrives at the festival to showcase the most daring, dangerous and unique styles. From Japan and the demented mind of Ujicha comes Violence Voyager, a stop-motion cornucopia of mesmerizing madness. From Chile, directing duo Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña’s breathtaking Wolf House, featuring perhaps the most inherently sinister and chilling story in any film this year. And finally, from Czech Republic and building on the great Czech puppet animation tradition arrives Aurel Klimt’s delightfully untrue but entertaining story of the first dog in space, Laika.

Fantastic Fest also sees expansion within its advisory board with the addition of new member Curran Nault. Nault, who is the Founder and the Artistic Director of the queer transmedia arts festival OUTsider, says, ‘”It’s an honor to join the Fantastic Fest Board at this pivotal moment in its evolution. I’m beyond ecstatic to lend my voice to the extraordinary creative fray already underway this year.” He’s the sixth member of the FF advisory board, which also includes Kier-La Janisse, Suki Rose-Simakis, Elijah Wood, Peter Kuplowsky and Kristen Bell.

Finally, building up on last year’s successful launch, Fantastic Fest Satellite Markets are back! They’ll be showing best of the festival titles including Cam, The Guilty, this season’s scariest film Terrified and many more to come in Denver, San Francisco, and New York. Details for the Satellite Markets can be found on the satellite landing page, here!

In the movie, a billionaire (Redford) offers $1,000,000 to a young married couple (Moore, Harrelson) for one night with the wife, ultimately wreaking havoc on the couple’s relationship. The film ended up earning $266 million worldwide becoming a hit at the box office but would also go on to win the 1993 “Razzie” for Worst Picture.

The movie was based on the Jack Engelhard novel of the same name that was published in 1988. The official description of the book is as follows: “In Atlantic City, after watching a major player lose and win back millions at the blackjack table, Joshua Kane and his wife Joan are offered a devil’s deal: this man will give Joshua one million dollars and the promise of a better life — in exchange for one night with Joan.”

The Indecent Proposal remake is still in the early stages as Paramount Players seeks out a director and its cast. In the meantime, the premise of the story asks an intriguing question: Would you agree to that devil’s deal?

Timeless series finale: Cancelled NBC series returning for two-part conclusion

Variety brings word that NBC is planning on bringing back the recently canceled series Timeless for a two-part series finale. The series finale will allow the massive cliffhanger at the end of the second season to be resolved as well as giving fans a proper conclusion as the story finally wraps up.

Lisa Katz, co-president of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment, said: “We’re excited to tell one final chapter to this incredible story. A huge thank you to all — our cast, crew, producers, and partners at Sony — who have worked so very hard, and to the fans who kept us on our toes and made sure we did our very best week after week.”

From Eric Kripke (RevolutionSupernatural) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield), season two of this thrilling action-adventure series picks up right where we left off with our heroes. We continue to race throughout history with our beloved team: Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), a scientist; Wyatt (Matt Lanter), a soldier; and Lucy (Abigail Spencer), a history professor, in an attempt to prevent the destruction of our world as we all know it. This season they’ll find an unlikely ally in their quest to ruin Rittenhouse, a deadly organization with plans to change history and reshape reality – even though Lucy’s family has been a part of Rittenhouse for centuries. Still making every effort not to affect the past themselves, they will visit 1692, 1917, 1941, 1981 and more.

The sophomore series was canceled after it’s first season due to lackluster viewer ratings but was resurrected three days later by NBC due to the passionate fan base flooding NBC with support for the show. NBC ended up giving the series a 10 episode second season that premiered on March 1st.

Ryan and Kripke also commented on the two-part series finale, saying: “While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of Timeless, this is the next best thing. We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast, and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support, and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”

The cast of Timeless includes Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit. Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke are the creators, writers and executive producers. Tom Smuts and Arika Lisanne Mittman are co-showrunners and executive producers. Don Kurt, Greg Beeman, John Davis, John Fox and Marney Hochman also executive produce. Timeless is a production of Sony Pictures Television, Davis Entertainment, MiddKid Productions and Kripke Enterprises.

No date has officially been set by NBC for the two-part series finale, but the special could air this winter.

Jon Turteltaub Explains Why National Treasure 3 Hasn’t Happened

Jon Turteltaub Explains Why National Treasure 3 Hasn't Happened

Jon Turteltaub explains why National Treasure 3 hasn’t happened

In a conversation with Collider, director Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, The Meg) discussed why a third installment of the National Treasure franchise hasn’t happened yet at Disney and why he thinks they should turn the story into a trilogy.

Turteltaub explained to the outlet that it all comes down to money: “When National Treasure first got made, there was a lot more money to go around. Everybody got paid nicely. The problem with getting the third one made isn’t the people who are getting paid saying, ‘I’m not doing it unless you pay me a lot!’ It’s really that Disney feels they have other films they want to make that they think will make them more money.”

The filmmaker disagrees with Disney’s position on not wanting to continue with National Treasure 3, saying the company doesn’t recognize that the audience wants to see more: “I think they’re wrong. I think they’re right about the movies they’re making; they’re obviously doing a really good job at making great films. I just think this would be one of them, and they don’t quite realize how much the Internet is begging for a third National Treasure.”

Turteltaub also shared that a script was being developed, but Disney’s lack of enthusiasm prevented the “close, but not so great” script from moving forward, even though the director felt it was good enough for the studio to have considered allowing development to continue until it was perfected.

National Treasure, starring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas, The Rock) and Diane Kruger (In the Fade, Inglourious Basterds), was released in 2004 and earned $347 million at the worldwide box office. The follow-up, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, made an additional $457 million worldwide for Disney.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the story left off with National Treasure: Book of Secrets, following treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) as he once again sets out on an exhilarating, action-packed new global quest to unearth hidden history and treasures. When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Ben’s great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln’s death. Determined to prove his ancestor’s innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America. This journey leads Ben and his crew not only to surprising revelations – but to the trail of the world’s most treasured secrets. The movie also starred Justin Bartha, Jon Voight, Ed Harris, Harvey Keitel, and Helen Mirren.

Have you been waiting for a National Treasure 3? Let us know if you would be down to see Nicolas Cage return as treasure hunter Ben Gates in the comments!

Antoine Fuqua Wants Denzel to Play Scarface in Upcoming Adaptation

Antoine Fuqua Wants Denzel to Play Scarface in Upcoming Adaptation

Antoine Fuqua wants Denzel to play Scarface in upcoming adaptation

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer, The Magnificent Seven, Southpaw) discussed the possibility of turning The Equalizer story into a trilogy and his upcoming adaptation of Scarface, where he hopes Oscar winner and regular collaborator Denzel Washington (Training Day, Glory, Fences) will take the lead.

When asked about the dream casting, Fuqua explained that he’s trying to nudge Denzel into playing Scarface,

“My dream is for him to be Scarface,” Fuqua said. “He laughs sometimes and he kind of goes, “'(Al) Pacino did a great job! I don’t want to do that.'”

Despite Denzel being seemingly unsure about taking on such an iconic part, Fuqua says that he is still “trying to nudge him into doing it.”

The Scarface adaptation is based on the 1930 novel written by Armitage Trail. The book was heavily inspired by real-life gangster Al Capone aka Scarface. The story follows the rise and fall of Tony “Scarface” Camonte who takes over the illegal alcohol business in Chicago during the Prohibition Era after killing mob leader Al Springola. The story concludes with Camonte being killed by his brother, an officer with the Chicago PD, who doesn’t recognize his brother since he thought he had died in WWI.

The iconic 1983 Scarface film is set in Miami in 1980 and follows Tony Montana, a determined Cuban immigrant who takes over a drug cartel and succumbs to greed. Fuqua’s reimagining from Universal Pictures will shoot from a script polished by four-time Academy Award winners Joel & Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, Fargo). The newest adaptation is said to take place in a contemporary Los Angeles setting and will be produced by Dylan Clark with Scott Stuber executive producing alongside Scarface producer Marty Bregman.

Whether or not Denzel decides to become the next Scarface remains to be seen, but Fuqua told the outlet that they are both on board to make The Equalizer 3 happen. Nothing is set in stone, but Fuqua would “love for it to happen,” and the possibility of a trilogy has been brought up by Sony. Fuqua also mentioned that if The Equalizer 3 were to happen, he’s interested in an international setting where Denzel could play a “James Bond-type character.”

The Equalizer 2 became the surprise #1 movie in America in its opening weekend, with an estimated domestic total of $35.82 million for the three-day weekend. The R-rated sequel has surpassed the original, exceeded studio and industry expectations, and became the highest grossing opening in Antoine Fuqua’s career. Denzel Washington stars in the title role once again in the first sequel of his career. Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman, and Melissa Leo co-star.

What do you think about Denzel becoming the next Scarface? And are you hoping for a third installment in The Equalizer franchise? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Tom Hardy stars in the upcoming feature film as Eddie Brock, the host for Venom. Joining him in the film are Michelle Williams (The Greatest Showman), Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Jenny Slate (Zootopia) and Woody Harrelson (the Hunger Games franchise, True Detective).

Venom will hail from Sony’s Marvel Universe of characters and will not be a spinoff of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, wherein Sony allows Spider-Man to be played by Tom Holland. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing along with Amy Pascal, with Palak Patel and Eric Fineman overseeing for Columbia Pictures.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) and written by Scott Rosenberg (Pain & GainJumanji) & Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), the Venom film is set for an October 5, 2018 release date.

First appearing in the comic book series as an alien costume worn by Spider-Man in Marvel‘s The Amazing Spider-Man #252 in 1984, it was several years before the creature left Peter Parker and merged with photographer Eddie Brock, forming the antihero known as Venom. Since then, the character has appeared in a variety of different forms and bonded with several different hosts. In the “Ultimate” Marvel Universe, the suit has a more terrestrial origin, created by Parker and Brock’s scientist parents in an attempt to cure cancer. More recently, the Venom symbiote has been moving between hosts, including Mac Gargan (aka The Scorpion) and Peter Parker’s old high school rival, Flash Thompson.

Disney’s Christopher Robin Director & Cast on the Wisdom of Winnie the Pooh

Disney’s Christopher Robin director & cast on the wisdom of Winnie the Pooh

Inspired by the stories of A.A. Milne and the Winnie the Pooh animated films and shows based on them, the latest Disney live-action adaptation reunites a now grown-up Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) with his childhood friends. Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh are all there as if no time has flown by in the Hundred Acre Wood. For Christopher Robin, he’s been gone for too long and has placed work above fun more than anything. When his wife Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) and daughter Madeline (Bronte Carmichael) want to go on Holiday, Robin ends up taking on more work and making his family go to the country house without him. Putting a strain on his relationship and being forced by his boss to make budget cuts, Christopher has a breakdown. Lucky for him, Winnie the Pooh (Jim Cummings) has found his way to London at the moment he’s needed the most.

At the press day for the film, ComingSoon.net sat down with the film’s stars Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell and director Marc Forster to chat about what makes Winnie the Pooh so timeless, expanding the legacy with Richard Sherman of the Sherman Bros. and growing up but never letting go of your inner child.

Timeless Stories

Actress Hayley Atwell reminisced about the lasting presence of Winnie the Pooh in her childhood, “Its quintessentially English, this idealism of the world of the Hundred-Acre wood and these little animals.” she said of the characters created by Milne that Disney later carried the legacy of. “There’s an innocence that we all relate to because it’s childhood innocence of spending long summer days with your best friends just hanging out not doing anything. The appeal is always that sense of gentleness and safety in that world of friendship when you’re a child. When you don’t have that burden of responsibility when big things happen to you where you can create your reality very much in your imagination and back garden.”

The Music

While working on the film, director Marc Forster reached out to the surviving member of the Sherman Bros. who created so many of the Disney classics for the original film. He discussed what it was like to pitch the idea to a living legend, “If I could get one song out of Richard Sherman, it’d be such a blessing for the movie. So I call him up and send him the script. I said ‘…at the beginning when they say goodbye, they can sing a little song for him before Eeyore does a little poem.’ So he calls me up and tells me he’s going to play the song for me. I have it on speaker, I’m in the car driving back from the set. He’s in his house playing from his piano and singing for me into his phone. First I get goosebumps, then I start crying. At the end, he plays a second song, and then a third song and a fourth. I’m literally in tears in the car and I said, ‘Richard, this is beautiful. Wait, wait I didn’t record this can you please sing it again’. I had to record it, its the most beautiful heartbreaking thing, him on the piano.”

While McGregor and Atwell don’t get to sing in the film, “We got a dance, which was nice.” laughed McGregor. Atwell interjected, “We sang a lot in the car.”

McGregor continued, “We were not unmusical just not on screen.”

Atwell did share what classic Winnie the Pooh song she would have loved to share with the animated characters, “There’s a song that’s not in this one but it’s on other cassette tape versions. Where he’s trying to get honey from a nest and he’s going how sweet to be a cloud floating in the blue and he’s trying to sing a song pretending to be a cloud then they won’t think I’m a bear looking for honey. And it was a cute little ditty.” she said of Little Black Raincloud as McGregor hummed along.

On Growing Up But Never Forgetting Your Inner Child

For Ewan McGregor, having only had a version of the character who was a young boy, tapping into an adult version wasn’t challenging as he based his performance on his experience as a working father and what that could be like at the time Robin would be a dad himself. He explained, “I think there’s an interesting thing as a dad about Christopher Robin being a man at that time. It would be unusual for him or any father to sense that he wasn’t close enough to his children but he’s not close enough to his daughter and he feels that–which is what’s so beautiful about the film because by the end of it he’s done something about it. And he’s closer to her. Pooh helps him to find the child in him again, who he was in the beginning when we see him at the beginning of the movie and then life happens to him and he’s lost that and Pooh helps him back to that. I suppose it was quite hard in some of the early scenes with Haley and Bronte, it was hard to pull back and make Christopher uptight and not notice that he is. At that point, he doesn’t know that. I love that the scenes, in the beginning, set that up. You can see they love each other, it’s important that we understand that otherwise, we don’t root for them.”

Atwell agreed, “Early you see them dancing, having this connection together then you know what is at stake for him if he loses it and you think what a missed opportunity to have this wonderful life with this woman who loves him and this beautiful daughter that wants to just be with him.”

Forster loved being able to use the known mythology of the tales to mean something more as Robin got older, “When he enters the hundred acre woods it’s again very foggy, he can’t find his way until he comes out of the Heffalump pit and the sun comes out and the colors become more lush. After beating the Heffalump out of himself, the Heffalump battle he sort of finds himself fighting his own demons and coming out on the other side with the realization of who he is and what he’s become.”

To him the film is inspired by many of the Pooh-isms that many could use nowadays, Forster noted some of his favorites, “Some people care too much and I think it’s called love.” he smiled and added, “Then there’s the one: Do you ever stop to think and forget to start again?”
