Kyle Richards Returning For Halloween Kills As Lindsey Wallace!

Kyle Richards Returning For Halloween Kills As Lindsey Wallace!

The roster for the highly-anticipated follow-up to last year’s smash horror revival Halloween is continuing to dive deep into the franchise’s mythos as another character from the past is being brought back in the form of Lindsey Wallace, with original actress Kyle Richards set to reprise the role, according to the franchise’s official website.

RELATED: Anthony Michael Hall is Tommy Doyle in Halloween Kills!

It was recently announced that Anthony Michael Hall will also play Tommy Doyle, who first appeared as a child in the original Halloween movie as one of the kids Laurie Strode (Curtis) was babysitting. The adult version of the character was previously played by Paul Rudd in The Curse of Michael Myers, the sixth movie of the original storyline. The new universe avoids those sequels, however, as the 2018 movie picks up the narrative after the 1978 film.

Buy the original Halloween film here.

Richards portrayed Lindsey in the original film, in which she was the other child under Laurie’s care when Michael’s reign of terror begins. Her character also appeared in similar fashion in Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake, but was not seen in any other films in the series, appearing only in the official sequel comic One Good Scare, in which as an adult she is under the care of David Loomis, Samuel’s son, at the local sanitarium claiming to be stalked by Michael, only to be found murdered with 13 knives in her.

It was previously announced that Halloween filmmaker and composer John Carpenter will be composing the score for both Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Both sequels were just announced last month, and details about either film are scarce at this point. All that’s really known, besides Carpenter providing the music, is that Halloween Kills will be released on Friday, October 16, 2020. David Gordon Green will return to direct and co-write the script with Danny McBride (The Righteous Gemstones) and Scott Teems. The following year, Halloween Ends will be released on Friday, October 15, 2021, which Green will also direct and co-write, this time with Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier.

Both films will be based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill and will be directed by David Gordon Green and produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum, and Bill Block. Carpenter, McBride, Green executive produce alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeanette Volturno and Couper Samuelson.

Released last October to critical acclaim and huge box office success, 2018’s Halloween brought in over $250 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing slasher film of all time.

Edgar Wright Shares First Photo From Last Night In Soho As Production Wraps

Writer/director Edgar Wright took to Twitter Friday to reveal that production has wrapped for his upcoming horror-thriller Last Night in Soho while also unveiling the first photo from the project and announcing a September 2020 release date!

RELATED: Production Begins on Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho

Last Night in Soho will star Anya Taylor-Joy (The WitchGlass), Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (Leave No Trace) and Emmy Award-nominated actor Matt Smith (The Crown, Doctor Who).

Plot details are light on the movie, but Wright calls it a psychological horror-thriller in the vein of Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion. Wright co-wrote the script for the film with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful). The film will take place in London’s Soho district.

“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years,” Wright told Empire about the movie. “With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead, you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”

Nira Park, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Wright will produce. Focus Features and Film4 will co-finance the film. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will distribute the film worldwide.

DC Collectibles’ Jim Fletcher on the McFarlane Batman Statue

DC Collectibles’ Jim Fletcher on the McFarlane Batman Statue

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Batman, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Collectibles are releasing the 100th Batman Black and White statue in the popular ongoing DC Collectibles line. The milestone #100 statue is based off Todd McFarlane’s own cover of Batman issue #423. ComingSoon.net got to chat with DC Collecitbles’ Jim Fletcher about the statue, which you can view in the gallery below!

RELATED: CS Unboxed: Rebirth Batman Cowl Statue From DC Collectibles

As with the previous 99 in the series, McFarlane’s design, reinforces the core value of DC Collectibles to represent the printed page in 3D form and pays homage to Batman’s rich legacy.

“To simply be a part of the 80th anniversary of a character that has always held such a special place in my heart is an honor,” McFarlane said.

ComingSoon.net: This year you’ve reached the milestone of 100 Batman Black and White statues. Do you have two or three favorites from along the way?

Jim Fletcher: This is one of the hardest questions that I get asked but some of my top favorites are Jonathan Matthews, Kim Jung-Ji and of course we will give a shout-out to the 100th statue by Todd McFarlane.

CS: For the 100th statue, you got the legendary Todd McFarlane to design a piece. The look seems deeply influenced by his famous Batman #423 cover. What are the biggest differences between that art and the statue?

Fletcher: First of all, let me say how thrilled we were to work with Todd, since we have been talking about this project for years. As for the changes between the cover and the statue, we removed the woman that Batman is holding his cape over. When we took her out, we decided to add the Bat logo to his chest. We also added Batman’s whole face because we decided to fill in the shadows, after conferring with Todd.

CS: What input did McFarlane have on the sculpture, either before or after it was complete?

Fletcher: Todd was actively involved in this project right from the start. He was very helpful and gave us all the information that we needed before we actually finished the sculpt.

CS: It was amazing to watch the time-lapse process video of Jonathan Matthews digitally sculpting the piece in a computer. How long does something like that take? How many revisions will a typical sculpt go through before it gets the sign-off?

Fletcher: The sculpt went much quicker than we expected. It can always be a challenge to take a 2d photo and make it a 3d figure. Especially when you remove items from the 2d version, then fill the space back in for the 3d version. Even Todd was surprised at how fast Jonathan turned it around. Revisions will vary from piece to piece.

CS: DC Collectibles created a life-size version of the McFarlane design. How is the process of creating a life-size statue different from the smaller ones?

Fletcher: We worked with Monster City Studios, who also made the life-sized Harley Quinn, and it is a completely different process to get the full-sized statue made. The material isn’t the same, but they work from our pre-existing digital files.

CS: You also unveiled #99, which is based on a design by fan fav Doug Mahnke. What was the process of honing in on this particular pose?

Fletcher: Doug has done a lot of great work for DC over the years, so luckily, we had a lot of good poses to choose from. We wanted a really dynamic pose and we found that piece of art in Detective Comics #994.

CS: Based on fan response and sales, what would you say has been the most successful in the line so far?

Fletcher: Ironically, the most successful statue in the Batman Black & White line isn’t Batman himself, it’s actually Harley Quinn by Bruce Timm! We were really surprised when we pulled out all of the sales numbers!

The Ten Best FX Shows

The 10 best FX shows

Have you ever noticed how many good shows have come from FX? Comingsoon.net has. Check out our favorites in the gallery below!

A cable network that came into the spotlight at the turn of the 21st century, FX has managed to churn out some of the most critically-acclaimed television shows of the past twenty years or so. FX (and their separate network for comedies, FXX) has actually been responsible for as many great programs as premium cable networks like HBO or Showtime, honestly—they just can’t seem to help themselves. They simply know how to make good TV.

FX has been praised by showrunners for allowing them to have almost complete and total freedom in their couple of decades as a network—they let comedies be vulgar, they let dramas be violent, they let writers put out work they can be proud of. Here are ten examples, with plenty more that deserve honorable mentions.

  • Better Things (2016- )
  • Fargo (2014- )
  • It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005- )

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Recap

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 9 Recap

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Recap

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale concluded its Season 3 with a daring and heroic mission to free a group of children from Gilead. To close out this season of The Handmaid’s Tale, marked with June’s trip to the unhinged side and Serena’s desire to be with Nichole at all costs, we are recapping Season 3’s most shocking moments.

Ofmatthew

June was hell-bent on seeing Hannah. After learning where she went to school, June manipulated Eleanor into going there with her. Unfortunately, Ofmatthew had reported her to Aunt Lydia. June and the other Handmaids shunned Ofmatthew, driving her to beat Janine at Loaves and Fishes. The Guardians shot her, but since Ofmatthew was pregnant, her body was kept alive until the baby came. June was forced to stay by her side in the hospital and tried to murder her. When the baby came, the doctors sacrificed Ofmatthew’s life for the baby.

The Plan

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 12 Recap

Ofmatthew’s death sparked a plan for June. She wanted to get as many young girls out of Gilead as she could. June had support from Handmaids, Marthas, and Commander Lawrence. She secured plane through a bartender at Jezebel’s and killed Commander Winslow who spotted her. Because Eleanor could potentially jeopardize the mission, she let her die. June even pulled a gun on a child. But ultimately, she ambushed a Guardian with a gun and took a bullet to give the children a chance to get away.

Double Betrayal

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

All Serena wanted was to see Nichole. She gave Fred up to the Americans in exchange and had immunity for what Gilead made her do. However, Fred told Tuello that Serena had forced June to have sex with Nick to impregnate her. Gilead hadn’t made her do that, and immunity didn’t cover it. Tuello arrested her too.

Paramount Pictures Acquires Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7

Paramount Pictures Acquires Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7

Paramount Pictures acquires Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7

It’s been a very rocky road for the courtroom drama The Trial of the Chicago 7 from Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin (Molly’s Game) and after acquiring financing and an ensemble cast in February, the film is rolling right along track as Paramount Pictures has acquired the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

RELATED: Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 Back on Track With All-Star Cast

The film was originally set up at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners, but after budgetary concerns during preproduction, the project was initially cancelled before Rocket Science Productions revived it.

Sorkin’s second directorial effort will feature Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald) as Tom Hayden, Oscar-nominee Sacha Baron Cohen (Who is America?) as Abbie Hoffman, Emmy-nominee Seth Rogen (The Lion King) as Jerry Rubin, Golden Globe-nominee Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Snowden) as Richard Schultz, Jonathan Majors (White Boy Rick) as Bobby Seale and Alex Sharp (The Hustle) as Rennie Davis. This will mark Gordon-Levitt and Rogen’s third major pairing after 50/50 and The Night Before, while Redmayne and Cohen appeared together in 2012’s Les Misérables.

The true story follows protesters who disrupted the 1968 Democrat party convention with an anti-Vietnam war “carnival” that turned nasty. Demonstrators threw bricks, police responded with tear gas and the center of Chicago was engulfed in flames. Curfews only escalated the violence.

After the clashes, independent investigators blamed eight police officers and eight protesters including Hoffman, who had already disrupted the New York Stock Exchange with showers of fake money.

The police were not charged but the protesters were accused of inciting a riot. One was jailed for contempt, leaving the seven to fight the charges.

Steven Spielberg was, for years, planning to direct The Trial of the Chicago 7 himself, but the plan became to move forward without Spielberg behind the camera when production was originally scheduled to start in January 2014. Paul Greengrass (22 July) and Ben Stiller (Escape at Dannemora) were both in talks to replace Spielberg at one point, but nothing ever came to fruition with either party.

RELATED: Sacha Baron Cohen Says No More Who is America?

Sorkin, who wrote the script in 2007, is just coming off of his directorial debut in last year’s Molly’s Game, which earned rave reviews from critics and audiences and was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film will also be produced by Marc Platt, who has Oscar nominations for Bridge of Spies and La La Land and has also produced hits including Drive, 2 Guns, Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns.

Director Aaron Sorkin said, “I’m thrilled to be making a movie about one of one of the craziest, funniest, most intense, most tragic and most triumphant trials in American history. C-7 may take place in the late ’60’s, but there’s no better time to tell this story than today.”
