ComingSoon.net got a chance to attend the New York junket for Steven Spielberg’s The Post, a film about the Pentagon Papers controversy. We talked to The Post cast members Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Sarah Paulson, Carrie Coon, Bradley Whitford and Tracy Letts about the speed at which Spielberg worked to get the film done, as well as answering the age old question: Does every movie that takes place in Vietnam need to use Creedence Clearwater Revival songs? Check out the video interviews in the player below!

The 20th Century Fox release is headlined by two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks (Forrest GumpCaptain Phillips) and three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep (The Iron LadyFlorence Foster Jenkins). It also features Alison Brie, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg and Zach Woods.

The Post is a thrilling drama about the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post‘s Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. The two must overcome their differences as they risk their careers – and their very freedom – to help bring long-buried truths to light.

Written as a spec script by newcomer Liz Hannah with a rewrite by Oscar winner Josh Singer (Spotlight), The Post is produced by Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Homecoming) alongside Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger (Bridge of Spies). Rachel O’Connor is executive producer with Star Thrower Entertainment’s Tim and Trevor White, and Adam Somner.

The Post will hit theaters in limited release on December 22, 2017, with a wide release on January 12, 2018.
