Fox sets release dates for Death on The Nile, Spies in Disguise and more

20th Century Fox has announced the release dates for a slew of its upcoming movies, as well as a few shuffle ups, including the in-development sequel to last year’s smash Murder on the Orient Express, James Mangold’s Ferrari project and the animated family comedy Spies in Disguise, amongst others.

After the success of last year’s adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie novel, Kenneth Branagh will return as detective Hercule Poirot in Death on the Nile, which 20th Century Fox has set for a December 20, 2019 release, pushing it back just over a month from its original release date of November 8. Its new release date will pin the film against Disney’s Star Wars: Episode IX and Universal’s theatrical adaptation of the hit musical WIcked. That will be almost just over two years after the release of Orient ExpressDeath on the Nile was published in 1937 and follows Poirot was on vacation in Egypt which results in an investigation into a murder that resulted from a love triangle.

James Mangold’s in-development Ford v. Ferrari movie has been set for June 28 , 2019 release dates. The film, which stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale, follows a team of American engineers led by Carroll Shelby and British driver Ken Miles who seek to craft a new race car from scratch to take down the Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship. Ford v. Ferrari will be going up against the Chris Pratt-led Cowboy Ninja Viking and Tiffany Haddish’s Limited Partners.

The upcoming animated comedy, Spies in Disguise, has suffered yet another delay, being pushed back a whole five months from its original April 19, 2019 release to a September 13, 2019, releasing at the same time as Universal’s untitled Danny Boyle/Richard Curtis comedy. The film follows the world’s top super spy (Will Smith, Suicide Squad) who must team up with a gadget inventor (Tom Holland, Avengers: Infinity War) to save the day when a the world is put in peril.

Last, but not least, the Dave Bautista (Hotel Artemis) and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) action-comedy Stuber has been set for a May 24, 2019 release date, putting it in a very busy weekend against Disney’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin and the Warner Bros. adaptation of the computer game Minecraft. The film, directed by Michael Dowse (Goon) and written by Tripper Clancy, will follow an Uber driver who is roped into a night of adventure by a detective.
