Everything is getting a reboot these days, and thanks to a new two-year first-look pact between the Act III production company and Sony Pictures TV, more of hit sitcom creator/producer Norman Lear’s classics may be getting the reboot treatment, according to Entertainment Weekly. The Norman Lear reboots could include The JeffersonsAll in the FamilyGood TimesMaude and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, among others.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be expanding our relationship with Brent and Norman,” Sony Pictures TV President Jeff Frost and co-presidents Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter said in a joint statement. “Norman is an icon in our industry and it’s a dream come true to be working with him. We’re excited to create more magic with Norman and Brent.

One of his series, One Day at a Time, is currently enjoying a very successful reboot on Netflix, filming its third season right now and having earned rave reviews from critics for its first two seasons.

Lear, 96, is also well-known for his political activism, having founded multiple progressive organizations including People for the American Way, which originally worked to advocate for secularism in 1980 to challenge the Christian right’s agenda of Moral Majority and has since worked to monitor right-wing activities. He’s received four Emmys and a Peabody award, as well as getting his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
